Sustainable development goals

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) set out a blueprint for development priorities up to 2030. There are seventeen goals with 169 targets covering a broad range of sustainable development issues, from ending poverty and hunger to improving health and education, reducing inequality, and combating climate change.

The SDGs apply to all countries and all peoples including the developed nations. The SDGs are important to our sector as in order to achieve all seventeen goals access to information and the skills necessary to use that information is vital.

The transformative nature of the 2030 agenda relates to our own Action Plan. Our goal: To put information and library skills and professional values at the heart of a democratic, equal and prosperous society.

In the Resources section you will find more information about the SDG’s and a timeline of CILIP’s recent engagement with the SDGs.
